Chinese vice president meets Indonesian counterpart

China is ready to work with Indonesia to promote bilateral strategic cooperation, said Vice President Xi Jinping on Sunday.

Xi told his Indonesian counterpart Jusuf Kalla during their meeting that China values the relations with Indonesia, which is a strategic partner of China.

China will make joint efforts with Indonesia to increase bilateral cooperation, so as to benefit the two peoples and contribute to regional and world peace and development, Xi said.

Kalla, who came to attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games and other related activities, congratulated China on the Games' success and on Chinese athletes' outstanding performance.

"This is the pride of the Asian people," he said.

Kalla said Indonesia attaches great importance to the relations with China, and will make efforts to enhance bilateral strategic partnership.
