Chinese vice president pledges to enhance relations with Burundi

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Sunday met with Burundian Second Vice President Gabriel Ntisezerana, pledging to push forward the bilateral relations.

China and Burundi enjoy traditional friendship, Xi said, noting that the two nations in recent years have witnessed close exchanges, increasing mutual trust, and fruitful cooperation in economy, trade and other areas.

Xi said China values the relations with Burundi, and would work with the country to enhance the development of bilateral ties.

As for the Beijing Olympic Games, Xi expressed appreciation of Burundi's support to the Games.

Ntisezerana, who came to attend the closing ceremony of the Olympics and other related activities, congratulated China on the Games' success.

Ntisezerana applauded China's help in the past long time. He said Burundi values the relations with China, and would increase friendly cooperation with China in various fields.
